The Windows
The stained glass, imported from Europe, was painted with ceramic paint and "fired" a number of times. The Willemse Stained Glass Studio in Scappoose, Oregon, was a winner of the American Institute of Architects Award. The windows were installed in the church sanctuary in 1957, the date on the cornerstone of the building.

Bert Willemse was born in Utrecht, Holland in 1924. His father was a stained glass artist in Amsterdam, where Bert developed his skill. He attended the Art Institute in Amsterdam for three years. In conjunction with the Rijksmuseum, the Institute students did repair work on art from the museum. Studies at the Art Institute were interrupted by the Occupation in World War II. During that time he served as a printer for the Dutch underground making passports and visas. He came to America as a refugee in 1947. Bert Willemse died in 1947 at the age of fifty.
