Kennewick First Lutheran Church is part of the Northwest Intermountain Synod, within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is part of the Christian church. We believe God’s grace, God’s unfathomable love, is available to all people as a gift through Jesus Christ. All are welcome here with their whole selves, which includes one’s race, ethnic background, past wrongdoing, socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical ability and legal status. Questions and doubts are welcome.

Welcome is what our church strives for. We recognize that there are groups and communities of people who have been hurt by experiences with church. They have been made to feel that they cannot be their God-given selves in church settings. The ELCA is continually working toward reconciliation and to share our fundamental belief that God’s love and grace are limitless and for everyone."

KFLC Community Outreach
  • Deacon’s Fund – Dedicated to support individuals in financial need in our community through direct donations from members of the congregation apart from routine benevolences provided in the church budget. 
  • Food Cart – Non-perishable food items donated by the congregation then made available to members and non-members on an as needed basis. The food cart is located in the Narthex and open to all in need.
  • “God’s Work. Our Hands.” – This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. 
  • Lutheran Community Services Holiday Lane - Members prepare and fill stockings (often over 500!) for local families in Benton and Franklin Counties, who are part of LCSNW's mental and behavioral health programs.
  • Thanksgiving Baskets - Members donate to provide local families in need with Thanksgiving food baskets (often over 35!).
  • Sent to Serve - KFLC partners with this local ministry to host showers and other services for the homeless community.
  • Pasco Lutheran Language and Citizenship Classes – Members are involved in social and civic activities serving our local Latino community
  • 12 Step Programs – Our facilities are used by various 12 step programs, at no cost to them.
